Save Wallum Campaign Ramps Up in Byron Shire
Monday Feb 19, 2024
Monday Feb 19, 2024
The gorgeous coastal village of Brunswick Heads in Arawkwal Country in the Shire of Byron Bay is home not only to the archetypal "Sea Change" community but also to some extraordanarilay rare and endangered ecologies. Right now it is also home to a David and Goliath struggle between megabucks corporate developers and a local community campaign determined to protect their precious wallum heathland from rapacious profiteers. In this episode of Environmental as Anything local environmental scientist, Svea Pittman speaks to Sean O'Shannessy about the values her community is defending. We also hear from "Zoe" who has just completed a tree climbing training to help prepare her for the non violent direct action campaign that has now started on the site.
